Interested in dog training and behavior? This is a unique offering for aspiring dog trainers, those in allied professions such as veterinary technicians and assistants, shelter and rescue professionals, fosters, dog parents, and anyone who wants to understand our canine friends’ behavior in depth.
The 8 week course covers how dogs learn, the fundamentals of ethology, and a broad view of the dog training and behavior profession. There is plenty of hands-on work with puppies and dogs! Here are some thoughts from past participants:
“I got a training gig for a little schnoodle…it went really well. I got him to stop nipping at ankles and hands and taught him some basics. It was fun and it is so nice to be able to use what I have learned.” Rachel H.
“I learned so much and have already been putting it into practice. Listening to you and watching the results have opened my mind so much and made me think more about how and why when working with my dogs. I enjoyed the class tremendously.” Sharon C.
“I gained so much from your class. Not only did I learn the theory and techniques of positive training, but by applying what I learned, my relationship with our dog is greatly improved!” Zoe C.
“I highly recommend The Fundamentals of Behavior and Training. It was an excellent mixture of classroom time devoted to the science of how dogs learn and the hands on application of this information working with pet dogs. Mira is talented as a trainer of both dogs and people, and class was always fun, relaxed and enlightening for everyone involved. The skills I acquired have benefited me both personally and professionally in my work with clients and my own pets.” Lynn B., DVM
The next session will meet Mondays 6pm-8pm and Saturdays 10:30am-1:30pm beginning Monday, September 19, 2009. Final class date is Saturday, November 7, 2009.
